Meta has acquired Conductor, a 2024-founded startup whose product lets engineers spin up multiple coding agents across parallel workspaces—often mixing models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and others rather than shipping a single proprietary agent. Founder Charlie Holtz said the team is joining Meta with plans for a new interface early next year; Meta confirmed the deal to TechCrunch without disclosing price or product roadmap.
The timing matters. The same day, OpenAI moved to buy Pierre Computer to deepen Codex's Git and review stack. Together the deals show AI labs competing not only on model quality but on the orchestration, storage, and review rails that make agentic coding usable at team scale. Conductor's model-agnostic stance could help Meta's Muse Code and Superintelligence Labs products meet enterprises where they already are.
Existing users face a hard migration clock: Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13 and shuts down November 20, after which cloud data deletion begins. Local Conductor continues receiving model updates and critical fixes into early 2027. For teams that adopted multi-agent workflows early, the acquisition is both validation and a reminder that startup tooling can disappear into a lab overnight.
