Hello, JavaScript!
Meet JavaScript and print your first message to the screen.
You will learn
- Understand what JavaScript does in a web page
- Use console.log to show messages
- Run code right in your browser
JavaScript is the language that makes web pages interactive. When you click a button, play a game, or see something update without reloading — that is often JavaScript at work.
Your first line of code
The console.log() command prints a message. Developers use it to test ideas and see what their code is doing. Try running the example below, then change the text inside the quotes to say your name!
How to practice here
Edit the code in the box, press Run code, and read the output panel. Everything runs on your device — nothing is sent to a server. Mistakes are normal; read the error message and try again.
Output
Press Run code to see results here.
Tip: Change the words inside the quotes to personalize your message.
